Gambia Garden recently provided the village with its first American football, responding to the community's interest in learning the game.
Through virtual workshops hosted on Instagram, we've engaged children in understanding and mastering the fundamentals of football. This initiative not only serves as a means of recreation but also fosters unity within the village, bringing together individuals of all ages to learn and play. Looking ahead, we're excited to explore partnerships with the NFL to expand the reach of the sport across Africa, offering even more opportunities for growth, development, and community engagement through football.
Tahir Upper School in the village of Monasa Konko has expressed eagerness to introduce American football into their physical education curriculum. With the support of numerous coordinators across the Gambia, volunteering to facilitate the growth of the sport, Tahir School aims to provide students with opportunities to learn and engage in American football during gym class sessions. Additionally, in the village of Pakalinding, a group of athletes gather regularly to practice their skills in the sport. AS the boys have began practicing, we see promising and exciting prospects for its expansion and development across the country.
In the future, Gambia Gardens aims to host the inaugural flag football game in the Gambia, paving the way for friendly competition and camaraderie as we anticipate playing against the neighboring country of Senegal.
